Arcade games run on Chrome software

Google engineers have reportedly managed to port Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator (MAME) to Native Client. The move theoretically enables users to play a wide range of classic arcade games on Google's Chrome software on Windows, Mac and Linux machines.

In a post on Google's developer site, Robert Muth described the porting project as "relatively challenging," taking approximately four days to complete.

Another MAME emulator recently arrived on the App Store for iOS devices, however the title was quickly removed. Although users can download copyright-free games, the emulators can also be used to play ROMs that contain copyrighted content that is illegal to use. [via Slashdot]
