High-end camera already backordered

RED's Scarlet-X camera has been reviewed by the team at Cinema5D, after the first limited production units began shipping to a select group of customers in November. A video post provides an early look at the professional camera, which starts at $9,700 and is already on backorder.

The Scarlet-X boasts 4K video recording (4096x2160) at 25FPS, while 3K shooting brings the speed up to 48FPS, 2K can be shot at 60FPS and 1K doubles the speed again to 120FPS. The Super 35-level sensor is also capable of shooting 5K stills at 12FPS continuous capture speed.

Adding SSD storage and an aluminum Canon mount brings the price up to $11,700, while several packages and titanium mounting options are also available. As expected, the company has yet to provide a time-frame for fulfilling the back orders. [via Engadget]
