Samsung wireless TV sets show early

The Wi-Fi Alliance's certification list may have spoiled a pair of Samsung's TVs for its CES intro next week. Both the "Echo-P Series TV" and the "X Series TV" received approval to use dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi. Either is light on detail and mentions just that they're "display devices" with media support.

The two, approved only on December 30, could be any number of devices. Their names don't line up with existing models, although these can't be ruled out entirely. Samsung could use the Echo-P and X for next-generation TVs based on its own Smart TV platform, but it could also be developing its first Google TVs.

If tied to what's being introduced at CES, any resulting sets might not ship for a few months. [via Technabob]
