Vizio Rose Bowl ad gives clues to CES 2012 TVs

Repeating a pattern from last year, Vizio has run a commercial (below) giving a hint as to its lineup for 2012. The Rose Bowl spot outlines the contrast between old and new in American football before giving a quick preview. Vizio's lineup may be much more distinct this year, with a chromed, arcing neck and a very minimal display.

The company still has to launch some of the TVs it promised last year, including its first Google TVs. Traditionally, Vizio has had one of the most widely spread release strategies of most TV makers, releasing some sets early in the year but sometimes not shipping sets introduced at the start of a year until several months later.

Many more details are expected at CES, which starts up next week.
