Cellphones to be demonstrated at CES
Austrian cellphone maker Emporia has announced that it is planning to bring several of its devices into the North American market later this year. The company's range of handsets is geared for "first-time mobile consumers," with a one-touch call feature that quickly connects users to family or emergency services.
The latest offerings include the emporiaCLICK, a clamshell phone that focuses on simplicity, along with the rugged emporiaSOLIDplus. The Click variant brings a stainless clasp, simplified interface, and "high-powered" vibration motors and flashing LED lights to notify users of incoming calls.
The rugged model is focused on business or outdoor user, with a design that is said to be capable withstanding liquids, shock, humidity, altitude and extreme temperatures.
Emporia is set to show its cellphone lineup next week at CES, though the company has yet to disclose any specifics regarding collaboration with US or Canadian carriers.
