Feature initially limited to Android

TuneIn has updated its mobile app for Android devices, adding a "car mode" that enables users to access some features without using touch input. The company has integrated a voice recognition engine that listens to commands referencing specific bands or radio stations.

Aside from the voice recognition features, the latest update fixes a bug with the sleep timer and alarm clock. Users can also adjust the buffer settings to control how much data is stored before the channel begins to play.

TuneIn provides a variety of streaming content, focusing on local and global radio stations but also providing access to specific artists, news and sports content.

Version 5.3 is now available as a free download from the Android Market, while a Pro edition adds recording capabilities for devices with a memory card. The car mode feature has yet to arrive on the iOS equivalent.
