Headset offers virtual 7.1-channel presentation

Plantronics is reportedly preparing to introduce a new gaming headset, the GameCom 780. The flagship headset appears to build on the current Game Com 777 model, offering a new design that features virtual 7.1-channel surround sound via Dolby's Headphone and Pro Logic IIx technology.

The headphones are said to be built around 40mm drivers, while each cup swivels and folds away when not in use. Like the GameCom 777, the latest edition offers a noise-canceling mic for in-game communication.

Plantronics has yet to officially unveil the GameCom 780, leaving launch dates and pricing information unclear. [via Engadget]
