Simple Transformer Prime root tool released

Those with an ASUS Transformer Prime and the need to modify its software can now do so thanks to a new, unofficially root tool shared by ViperBoy over on the RootzWiki forums. The root is simple, requiring Windows users only to download a ZIP file, install the contained drivers onto their tablet, and run the viperMOD Primer Tool executable. With this process, users can freely root or unroot their devices.

Running the root process will always check for the latest copy of the NachoRoot exploit, which was developed by TeamAndIRC. The Transformer Prime's bootlaoder was locked from the factory, making modifying the basic preloaded software difficult. The unlock will allow users to load newer versions of the Android OS onto the tablet and make other customizations.

The author of the code said he is working on a Linux version and will release it relatively soon as well.

ASUS said it will release an official Android 4.0 update for its tablet on January 12, negating some of the need to root for those who just want the newer OS. An official bootloader unlock tool will reduce the need for root hacks at a later point in time.
