GameCom 780 sports 7.1 Dolby

Plantronics will be unveiling two new headsets for gamers at the upcoming CES 2012 show. In addition to the over-the-ear GameCom 780, which features Dolby 7.1 virtual surround sound, Plantronics will be showing the GameCom 380. It takes on a similar form factor, but without the Dolby augmentation.

The GameCom 780 incorporates dual 40mm drivers with Dolby Headphone and Prologic IIx technology to emulate 7.1 surround sound. It comes with a 6.5-foot cord and a USB connection. The lower-end GameCom 380 headphones, in addition to not offering surround sound, only sports a 3.5mm audio jack.

The GameCom 780 will be priced at $80. The GameCom 380 will carry a $50 price tag. [via Engadget]
