Samsung delivers new Wi-Fi enabled cams for home
Samsung has rolled out a pair of new Wi-Fi cameras as CES 2012. The Wi-Fi inTouch camera system is HD Skype-enabled and also includes pre-loaded apps. The Wi-Fi Video Baby Monitor will also have supporting iOS and Android apps developed for it to allow parents to use their mobile phones at home and away for monitoring.
In addition to Skype, the Samsung inTouch camera system is also pre-loaded with a range of apps, which turns a standard HDTV into an internet-connected set. Apps such as YouTube and Google News and Weather delivers a wide range of content, while a Web browser allows consumers to fully access the Internet. Navigation is completed with the inclusion of a palm-sized QWERTY keyboard which also makes checking email or instant messaging with friends less fiddly.
The Wi-Fi Video Baby Monitor uses an IP-based system that features a one-touch button that will automatically pair the device to a wireless home network in under 30 seconds. No installation of software is required. To get started, users just register their camera with SamsungSmartCam.com.There is no limit to the amount of cameras that can be added to an account - users can register, label and view live footage from each using their one login.
The Samsung inTouch ($200) and Wi-Fi Video Baby Monitor ($150) will both be available in March.
