Controller features customizable sticks & buttons

Mad Catz has brought out two new products at CES targeting serious gamers. The Major League Gaming (MLG) Pro Circuit Controller is a gaming component designed for Microsoft Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 tournament participants. The F.R.E.Q. 5 Pro Gaming Headset offers an over-the-ear stereo headset for pro gamers.

The MLG Pro Circuit Controller revolves around a customizable form-factor. It offers magnetic top and side face-plates that can be swapped out for a personalized playing experience. Components, including the D-Pad and analog sticks, can be moved around to create an individualized layout. Optional ProModule kits provide a variety of colors, tensions, lengths, and textures.

The PS3 version of the MLG Pro Circuit Controller features a reverse trigger mode. With it, the functionality of the L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons can be interchanged. The controller also sports rubberized grips to deter slipping while playing and a braided connection cable. It comes with a case to carry the controller body and any components.

The Cyborg F.R.E.Q. 5 Stereo Gaming Headset incorporates dual 50mm drivers with neodymium magnets. Frequency response is 20Hz to 20KHz. The noise-canceling microphone is detachable. The controls for muting the microphone, adjusting the volume, and toggling the equalizer settings are placed on the one of earpieces itself for more intuitive control. A quick-release connector provides for easy usage with either a USB or 3.5mm audio connection, and the headsets support making voice calls on iPhone, BlackBerry, or HTC smartphones.

The MLG Gaming Pro Circuit Controller is available now for $100. The Cyborg F.R.E.Q. 5 headset will begin shipping sometime this spring. Pricing has not been set for the audio hardware.
