Speaker in robot shape dances to the music
Robotics and high-tech toy manufacturer TOSY today rolled out the mRobo Ultra Bass, portable speaker that doubles as a dancing robot. The device uses software to analyze the music for beats and rhythms to which it responds with corresponding dance moves. To help launch the product at CES, Vietnam-based TOSY enlisted the help of teen idol and Canadian pop singing star Justin Bieber.
The battery powered mRobo carries two gigabytes of internal memory that enables a listener to store about 500 songs. Music is uploaded via a USB port. A remote controls the volume and lets the user select which track to listen to. Once the music begins playing, the mRobo transforms from a shrunken form to an 18-inch high robot that grooves to the music through a series of pre-programmed dance moves. The mRobo can listen to its own music, music from other devices, or music streamed over Bluetooth. The integrated speaker, with a low-end response of 40Hz is designed to accentuate bass.
Although showcased at CES, the $199 mRobo will not be available until fall of this year.
