Swiss Army intros $3,000 Victorinox 1TB SSD

We stopped by the Victorinox booth to see what's new at CES. The Swiss Army knife maker showed off an upcoming limited edition knife with a built-in 1TB solid state drive. Slightly larger than its smaller-capacity brethren, the drive is capable of 220MBps read and 150MBps write speeds. As with other Swiss Army USB knives, the drive is detachable from the knife, though this process is much simpler here.

The drive will ship with the Victorinox Secure software preloaded, giving it 256-bit AES encryption for security. A bi-stable monochrome LCD display with 96x48 resolution will show device capacity and stays on even when unplugged from a computer.

Other than the SSD, there is also a knife blade, scissors, and a nail file, while a key ring will attach it to keychains. The package also includes a black body that doesn't have a blade and is thus approved for taking on flights.

The drive will be out in April, priced at a whopping $3,000. Smaller-capacity models should be out alongside for slightly more reasonable money, including 64-, 128-, 256-, and 512GB.
