Hulu showing strong growth, to expand in 2012

Hulu has announced that it has reached an important milestone after chalking up 1.5 million Plus paid subscribers. This makes it the fastest of any online video subscription to reach this mark in the US. The company has noted that it is currently adding twice as many paid subscribers each day now, than for the same period last year.

Hulu also highlighted the fact that part of the reason for the strong subscriber growth that it is currently experiencing has followed a 40 percent increase in the content it offers users since 2010. New contend added over 2011 included Grimm, Once Upon a Time, Misfits, Revenge, Terra Nova and New Girl. The company has said that to this, it plans to invest around $500 million in adding new content over 2012.

In addition to paid subscribers, Hulu now has an install base of over 200 million users across a range of platforms including PCs, tablets, the Xbox 360, the Kindle Fire, the Nook tablet, certain Android smartphones, as well as smart TVs from LG, Panasonic and Vizio.
