Loyal Motorola Xoom early adopters get ICE gift

The Motorola Xoom ‘project’ has yielded an Android 4.0 update for early adopters of the original Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet as anticipated. The update is available to owners of the Google Experience version of the tablet and who live in the US and own either a Wi-Fi Xoom or the 4G LTE equipped version. Users also need to be a member of Motorola’ official forums and the Feedback Network.

A Motorola employee issued this statement to its forum members:

“Thanks for your patience as we've waited for this project to begin. Because we are dealing with a Google Experience Device (GED) we have less insight to timing than we would usually have.”

”However, I'm happy to announce that we will start the update this evening. Because it was delayed a few days, we will also have additional time to test; we will let it run through the weekend.”

Early recipients of the software update have confirmed that it is indeed an upgrade to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). [via Android Central]
