Mice feature flexible parameter setting

Gaming peripherals maker SteelSeries has introduced three new mice. The Kana is a six-button device while the Kinzu v2 Pro Edition and Kinzu v2 host 4-buttons. All three support SteelSeries' Engine software.

The three mice are designed for either left-handed or right-handed usage. Their pointers all operate at speeds of up to 3200 CPI in increments of 400, 800, 1,600, and 3,200 CPI. It can handle up to 3,600 frames per second, SteelSeries claimed'. The Engine app enables users to customize their mice with personalized button programming, polling rates, and CPI settings. It can also create macros, optimize layouts by recording movements, and create heat maps of button usage.

The Kana was designed using feedback from SteelSeries' Designed by Gamers Campaign. It comes fitted with a six-button layout. The scroll wheel is lighted and indicates the currently active CPI profile.

In addition to carrying two fewer buttons, the Kinzu v2 and Kinzu v2 Pro Edition support lower stable movement rates. The Kana tracks movement 130 inches per second, while the Kinzu series handle movement of 65 inches per second. The Pro Edition integrates "tournament-grade" Omron button switches.

All three mice are available now. The Kinzu v2 is priced at $40. The Kinzu v2 Pro Edition costs $45. SteelSeries has priced the Kana at $50.
