Speaker uses surface contact to boost bass

WOWee has brought its latest gadget to CES, the Pro portable speaker. Electronista stopped by the company's booth to listen to the latest model, which adds a microphone and a Bluetooth radio to the Slim variant that was released approximately one year ago.

Removing the need for a cable was a sensible direction to take for the small portable speaker, which is designed to work with smartphones or iOS devices. The speaker uses "audio-gel" technology that resonates through a table or other surface. The cable had placed a natural limitation on positioning flexibility.

The company also showed its Slim model being used alongside MicroVision's PicoP projector. The combination will be offered as a bundle, providing decent sound with laser-based color projection, however the system still requires two separate pieces of hardware alongside an iPhone or other video source.

WOWee has yet to announce pricing details for the Pro and the projector bundle.
