Nook Color bootloader bypassed using microSD

The Barnes & Noble Nook Color has had its boot loader by-passed and Android 4.0 successfully installed. @Nemith, an XDA Developers forum member, has posted the first images of a Nook Color running CynaogenMod 9 with Android 4.0 also running. The workaround was made possible by using a microSD card to install CynaogenMod9, which enabled the tablet to be booted from there instead of the built-in storage without erasing the standard software.

The hack has not been made available to the public yet, as more tweaking is required before the OS is running properly and all its functions work properly. A different group of hackers have also developed a version of Ubuntu that they have managed to install on the Nook Color as well. Again, however, the OS is not yet fully stable. The tablet has proved somewhat difficult to hack thanks to its secure bootloader, although this is evidence that the hackers are now making progress. [via Liliputing]

    You mean Nook Tablet?

The Nook Color has been running CM7&CM9 for a while, the Nook Tablet is the one with the locked bootloader, 16GB storage, faster CPU/GPU
