No 3G Transformer Prime in the works: ASUS

ASUS on Monday said it isn't planning on releasing a 3G version of its Transformer Prime tablet, contradicting an earlier report to the contrary. That report was based on a presentation from Eee Systems chief Samsung Hu. ASUS now said the 3G radio version isn't currently on the company's roadmap, Focus Taiwan reported.

On the other hand, ASUS will launch 3G versions of other tablets in the future. This may include the Transformer TF700T unveiled last week at CES. The 10.1-inch tablet is due to go on sale in the spring, and sports a 1920x1200 touchscreen. Along with the seven-inch Eee Pad MeMO upgrade and its Padfone due to be unveiled at Mobile World Congress, ASUS hopes to more than triple its tablet sales to nearly six million in 2012.
