Alienware X51 biled as smallest gaming PC ever

Dell's Alienware badge ventured into small form factor desktops for the first time late Tuesday. The X51 is billed as the smallest gaming PC desktop ever at no more than 13.5 inches at its largest dimension. Even with a 3.7-inch thick width, it can not only fit up to a GeForce GTX 555 desktop graphics card but replace this, the hard drive, and the RAM as new technology comes through.

The PC is designed to have proper cooling both vertically and on its side. As an Alienware system, it has three lighting zones. A new app showing first on the X51, AlienAdrenaline, creates profiles that will close unneeded apps, load pages, or otherwise set up the PC for specific games or purposes. An Alienware Gaming Services concierge is launching for the whole line and helps tune new games, customize them, and troubleshoot problems.

HDMI 1.4, 7.1-channel audio, and 802.11n Wi-Fi are built in the box, and options can turn it into a mini home theater PC with Blu-ray. As much as a quad Core i7, 8GB of RAM, a GeForce GTX 555, and an optional 330W power supply help it handle heavier workloads.

The system starts off at $699 with a dual Core i3, 4GB of RAM, a GeForce GT 545, and a 1TB hard drive. Alienware is already taking orders.
