Walmart adds unlimited data to family plans

Walmart and T-Mobile have just added unlimited data to Walmart's Family Mobile plans. They already include unlimited talk and text, and retain the same monthly price points of $45 for the first line and $35 for additional lines. Previously, the family plans included just 250MB of shared web access.

The plans carry no annual contract and are postpaid, making them the first of their kind with unlimited data access.

As usual, however, there is a proviso. Those who activate the plans before March 16 will access up to 5GB per month per line at full 3G speeds until March 31. After that date, or for those who activate after March 16, will only get 250MB per month per line at up to 3G speeds. As a consequence, the majority of the unlimited data users will likely get may arrive at speeds closer to 2G.
