Would differ with iPad 2 launch timeframe

The iPad 3 and/or iOS 5.1 will be announced in early February, claims Macotakara. The Japanese website quotes sources in the US and the Asian supply chain. An actual launch is anticipated in early March, which would be roughly consistent with when the iPad 2 shipped, on March 11th of last year.

The iPad 2 was announced on March 2nd 2011 though, which may mark Macotakara's date as unrealistically early. At the same time, the iPad 3 is generally expected to represent a dramatic leap over its predecessor, to which Apple might want to devote extra publicity. Current reports suggest the tablet will have a 2048x1536 display, a quad-core processor, and even LTE support.
