Oracle: each day of Android makes Google $10m per year

Orcale claims Google making steep Android profit

Oracle has put out an unofficial estimate of Google's possible damages claimed it was making over $10 million a year from each day it sells Android. Going from Google mobile VP Andy Rubin's claims of 700,000 activations per day and assuming $14 in ad revenue from each device, Oracle assumed Google was making eight-digit revenue just from ads alone, according to a copy of statements obtained by Florian Mueller. This didn't include Android Market, exclusive hardware deals, or "other Android-related services," the database veteran said.

The company went on to accuse Google of using Android to squeeze other industries and get revenue through indirect channels. Android was helping supply Google+ users and otherwise letting Google "wield such power" that it was prompting antitrust investigations, Oracle said. It also used an analyst prediction of 2.5 million activations per day within a year, although whether or not that can be used as evidence in court is questionable.

Google has never directly quantified how much it makes from Android, and Oracle's own estimates may be tenuous. While Oracle may be accurate, it also has a vested interest in exaggerating Android's revenue to extract as much as it can should it win its legal fight with Google. Oracle has already been made to change its formulas after it tried to ask for billions of dollars, and will likely try to compensate for this through inflating the claims it has left.

Google has made relatively little attempt to defend itself in the light of incriminating e-mail, but it has been trying to mitigate the scope of the damages. It wants bot much less in damages and to try to settle for a one-time payment rather than the ongoing revenue that Oracle wants.

    Google has a lot of

goods things it does but doesn't care whose toes it steps on to do what it wants. It's against SOPA because it is ONE of the biggest infringers of stealing stuff. Those who have never copyrighted anything do not understand what this means. So while I once despised MS, I used their Bing instead of Google, and, I admit, I like it. In case you are a person who believe in the US Constitution, let it be known that the protection of intellectual property is covered in it!

    s**** Google

I think Google deserves to be screwed in this deal. They deliberately knowingly broke the law. The real way to prevent this in the future is to send the Google board of directors to jail for 5 year each for felony and give Oracle $50 per device sold. Teach Google a lesson for breaking the law and stealing from others.

    $10 per year each day?

That's $3.65 billion in revenue a year. Most experts put Google's mobile revenue at $1.5 billion, and about 1/2 of that comes from iOS use. So, the figure is really closer to $750 million.
