Telus expected to be first carrier

Samsung has quietly confirmed that its Galaxy Note handset will arrive in Canada sometime in the middle of February. The company's Canadian website includes a sign-up page for launch notifications, with a reference to mid-February availability, however exact plans for specific carriers remain unclear.

The Note features a 5.3-inch 1280x720 display that is significantly larger and wider than four-inch smartphone displays and even a large jump from the 4.65-inch panel on the Galaxy Nexus. Other hardware features include a dual-core 1.4GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, an eight-megapixel camera and a stylus.

Pre-release Galaxy Notes on hand at CES were outfitted with AT&T badges, however the carrier has yet to announce a specific launch date. The device is also expected to arrive early this year via Verizon as the Galaxy Journal.

The Note is expected to arrive first at Telus before heading to other Canadian carriers.
