Twitter gets Summify to aggregate Twitter news
Summify confirmed Thursday that it had been bought by Twitter. The move will give Twitter access to aggregated news from users' Twitter feeds, which Summify streamlined in daily e-mail. It warned that the service would gradually ramp down before being closed as the team moves to San Francisco.
As of today, Summify is dropping public summaries, removing influence and profile pages, and turning off both automatic publishing as well as mobile and web sign-ups.
Neither Summify nor Twitter would reveal the ultimate intentions of the deal, although Summify said it was joining Twitter's Growth division and would continue to focus on news. The addition may see Twitter further focus on its attempts to make Twitter accessible to newcomers by letting them get a collection of important news without having to constantly follow others.
