Sony B170 Walkmans weigh 28g, have quick charge

Sony has just released a new Walkman portable audio player range, the B170. The players weigh just 28 grams and sport a Bass Button to pump up the low frequency reproduction. Battery life is rated at 18 hours, but there is also an option to plug it in for a quick, three-minute charge that will return 90 minutes of playback.

The players have an integrated USB port for quickly connecting to the PC, car radios or home theater receivers. A clip is integrated for attaching the latest Walkman to clothing, bag straps or a belt. Users can copy files by simply dragging and dropping.

Sony's Zappin tech is built-in, previewing tracks by playing the first few seconds. Pressing the button again will play back the entire song. A built-in equalizer lets users custom tailor the sound of the devices.

At least five colors will be available when the devices ship later this month. No prices are revealed, but the players will ship in 2GB and 4GB capacities.
