Touchtv for iPad and LG arrives

Startup firm SkyGrid has formally rolled out a platform for on-demand streaming of major TV networks. Touchtv, launching first on the iPad (free, App Store), includes TV from the four major broadcast networks as well as Discovery, ESPN, and others. Viewers make personalized channel listings in a format meant to partly replicate traditional TV.

The service is so far free; it's not clear how SkyGrid is generating revenue with the app, which needs iOS 4.0 or newer.

Simultaneously, SkyGrid has struck a deal with LG to put Touchtv on LG's Internet-aware 2012 Smart TV lineup. Details of how it would vary from the iPad app if at all weren't clear, but the sets would be available before the end of March.
