Boxee Live TV tuner ready to go

Boxee said Saturday that it was shipping its Live TV add-on. As of Monday, the $49 add-on tuner would head out to its first customers. Orders are likely to arrive later the same week.

The USB stick is tailored just to the Boxee Box and gives it the expected live TV from any source that can screw into a co-ax port, whether an over-the-air antenna or unprotected cable. Viewers get access to a full program guide and the ability to share what they're watching on social networks. At least initially, however, they can't record shows for viewing later.

Getting the tuner makes the Boxee Box one of the only networked media hubs that has access to traditional TV at the same time as it has Internet sources.
