Apple folding Anobit into main hardware engineering team

Cook takes dig at competitors
Apple has finally shed more light on its recent acquisition of the flash memory specialist Anobit. As part of the conference call following Apple's fiscal fist quarter financial disclosure, chief executive Tim Cook explained that Anobit would be integrated into the company's primary hardware engineering unit.
The executive also took the opportunity to criticize its competitors, noting that Apple does not believe in "having a lot of divisions." Many tech companies, including Microsoft, operate with a broad range of disparate business divisions.
"Anobit has fantastic technical talent and we're really fortunate to have them join us," Cook said.
Apple recently confirmed the buyout, which is rumored to have been worth approximately $400 to $500 million. Full plans surrounding the acquisition remain unclear, though analysts believe the company may be attempting to tighten supply-chain control or create its own proprietary memory technology.
