Ultrasone intros $1,300 Signature Pro headphones
German high-end headphone maker Ultrasone has just unveiled one of its more advanced earpieces in the Signature Pro set. Meant for use by musicians, sound engineers and audiophiles, the handmade headphones sport a 40mm titanium-plated driver developed by Ultrasone engineers.
They have an uncharacteristically wide range frequency range of 8Hz to 42kHz and an impedance of 32 Ohms. Their 98dB of maximum sound pressure level is produced in part thanks to neodymium magnets. The earcups sport glass nameplates, and the materials are otherwise exotic, with Ethiopian sheep leather used for the earcups. The headphones weigh 10.6oz.
Ultrasone also applied ULE technology to protect from electromagnetic radiation thanks also to the use of MU metal.
The headphones come with two Neutrik cables, one 9.8 feet long and sports a quarter-inch, gold-plated stereo jack and the other getting a 4.9-foot cable and a gold headphone connector.
The headphones will retail for $1,300 and be joined by others in the Signature Pro range later on in the year. A hard carrying case is included.
