Verizon/HTC deny phone globally enabled

Verizon owners of the HTC Rezound may be getting more of a phone than they realized. A member of the XDA-Developers forums has posted claims indicating that the phone which runs on the carrier's CDMA network may be a truly global phone, packing GSM/HSPA radios as well. Both HTC and Verizon claim it doesn't have this multi-band capability.

The UK user ordered one of these phones, inserted a T-Mobile SIM, set the network to "WCDMA Only" and powered up the phone. He was able to both call and transmit and receive data, even without entering an unlock code. There are some kinks, however, as the phone can receive but not send texts.

The Rezound sports a dual-core Snapdragon 1.5GHz processor paired with a 720p 4.3-inch screen. Imaging is though an eight-megapixel, f2.2 aperture camera with 1080p video at the back, and a 1.3-megapixel camera up front. One of the biggest selling points of the phone is its Beats Audio. The phone by the nature of its LTE support has to carry a SIM slot.
