Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Sprint takes signups

Google has posted a signup page for the Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus. Potential early adopters can get information about when the Android 4.0 phone hits the carrier and also might get news of "Nexus products, services, and features." Those who put in a ZIP code can get locations for shops when orders start.

Neither Google nor Sprint has dropped direct clues as to when the new version will ship beyond mid-2012. The CTIA spring show in May could be a candidate for the final release.

The Sprint version of the Galaxy Nexus is identical to the 4G LTE-equipped Verizon model, but promises to be closest to the completely pure HSPA+ version in terms of software. Despite Verizon denials that it's being hostile, the Sprint version won't block Google Wallet and can use its NFC to make payments at PayPass-friendly shops. Sprint's tight integration with Google Voice also makes the new Nexus the ideal vehicle for its semi-VoIP calling and advanced voicemail.
