Tests show PowerVR SGX544 graphics

Samsung may be readying an upgraded version of its Galaxy Nexus handset with a faster processor. Tests using the benchmark tool NenaMark reference a mystery device that is powered by PowerVR SGX 544 graphics components, which are tied to TI's latest 1.8GHz OMAP4470 processor.

Although the benchmark suggests the device may have been running at 1.3GHz, below the OMAP4470's full potential, the unknown device achieved a score 25 percent higher than the nearest competitors. Samsung currently runs the OMAP460 at 1.2GHz, despite its 1.5GHz capabilities.

Sprint recently launched an advertising campaign for the Galaxy Nexus, which referenced a 1.5GHz chip. The carrier has confirmed that its edition will offer 32GB of integrated memory, however the discrepancy in CPU speed compared to Verizon's CDMA/LTE model has yet to be explained. [via Droid-Life]
