Two online petitions that look to address issues around claims of factory worker abuse among the Chinese suppliers of Apple and other electronics firms have been launched online, while accessory maker Mophie has won a case against a counterfeit case producer in Texas.
Online petitions decry Apple, Chinese suppliers
Two online campaigns against Foxconn factory worker abuse have been launched on Change.org and SumOfUs. Mark Shields started his Change.org campaign after listening to a radio program that discussed the claims of labor abuses at an Apple supplier factory in China. In less than 48 hours, Shields' petition grew to over 140,000 signatures, only 10,000 short of his original goal. At the same time, the SumOfUs campaign, which addresses the same concerns, has gained over 35,000 signatures within 24 hours. Apple's CEO Tim Cook openly addressed the issues through a letter sent to all workers which said that Apple will not "turn a blind eye to problems in our supply chain," and suggested people follow the company's progress on its dedicated web page.
Mophie wins judgement against counterfeit Juice Pack seller
Mophie, a California-based accessory manufacturer, has been awarded an $830,000 judgement against a Texas woman who was selling counterfeit versions of its Juice Pack Plus rechargeable battery case on eBay. On top of the fine, Sidrah Qadeer was ordered to pay all of Mophie's legal fees, to immediately deliver all counterfeit products for destruction, and to forever refrain from selling any Mophie-branded products. Official Mophie products can be found in Apple, AT&T, Best Buy, and Verizon stores, as well as on its own website and also via Amazon.

"Apple factory worker abuse"
LOL Got to love it! So, Apple is to right all the wrongs in the world's labor policies? Even though every other electronics maker uses those same assemblers and there are many other countries with the same problem.
Sure where the Human Rights Organizations failed, Apple will surely succeed and be petitioned to do so! Give me a break. These people don't really care about labor issues. They just want their 15 minutes of fame and attaching Apple to some controversy is the most effective way of getting it. How do I know this to be a fact? Because the actual company that hires and "mistreats" these Chinese workers isn't even mentioned in this article for christ's sake!!! It's called Foxconn. It's actually "Foxconn factory worker abuse".
