Lines up with possible launch at MWC

Rumors have been circulating about two possible new tablets from Samsung. The Japanese Blog Ameblo has published copies of certifications issued by the Wi-Fi Alliance confirming two Samsung models codenamed the GT-P3100 and GT-P5100. Samsung traditionally uses the P badge to indicate a Galaxy Tab family member, leaving little doubt as to the device type.

Not much is known about the two tablets at this time. Both devices will probably run Android 4.0. Common rumors could point to one incorporating a 2560x1600 display and a 2GHz, dual-core processor. The other tablet, sporting a 1024x600 display and priced around $300, could compete with the Amazon Kindle Fire.

Samsung could use better ammunition against the Kindle Fire. A
recent study of tablet usage showed that the share of online usage by current Galaxy Tab devices slipped from 63 percent in November, right before the Kindle Fire was introduced, to 36 percent in January. A more important metric was that for every paid app a Galaxy Tab user bought, a Kindle Fire owner bought 2.5.

The upcoming MWC show in Barcelona later this month would be a likely opportunity for Samsung to unveil the devices. [via Sndronica]
