Microsoft streamlines marketing department
Software giant Microsoft will cut about 200 marketing jobs starting on Wednesday, according to the company and multiple sources on the web. Part of a restructuring for the marketing division at the company, most of the affected jobs will be from the company's main Seattle offices. They will include positions in the central marketing group responsible for branding and advertising and in individual product groups.
The effort is reportedly due to redundancies at the company, making it more effective and efficient. Microsoft itself calls these layoffs a "small percentage of marketing positions, to better align our resources with our business needs and clarify roles across the marketing function."
