Motorola Droid 4 may have reasonable prices

Two sources have hinted that the Droid 4 may have an imminent launch and a moderate price point. The Droid-Life contacts had it shipping on February 9 for $199 on a contract, or as much as the pared-back 16GB Droid RAZR. It was originally rumored to come a week earlier but was moved back for unknown reasons.

The Droid 4 is largely a direct counterpart to the Droid RAZR that adds a hardware sliding keyboard. Other than going to a clearer four-inch LCD instead of the 4.3-inch Super AMOLED, it continues to share the dual-core 1.2GHz processor, LTE-based 4G, eight-megapixel rear camera, and front camera. Both come with Android 2.3 using Motorola's current custom layer.

At $199, it would be relatively advanced for the price. Verizon typically asks for contract prices of $250 to $300 for any new, higher-end LTE smartphones.
