Samsung demos formula for Galaxy Tab 11.6 in advan

Samsung has given a technology preview of how it will answer the third-generation iPad with the now more probable Galaxy Tab 11.6. The abstract demo shown to Phone Arena combined the extremely sharp 2560x1600 LCD with the upcoming 2GHz Exynos 5250 chip. The test both proved that the resolution was possible on new hardware and touted the efficiency of the smaller 32 nanometer chip.

When comparing equivalent architectures, like the 32nm Exynos 4212 versus its 45nm Exynos 4210 ancestor, the chip drew 36 percent less power overall, even when being clocked higher at 1.5GHz to the 1.2GHz of the older, Galaxy S II-based chip. It's not clear how much more the 5250 would consume with its considerably higher speed and new architecture, but it may mitigate the increase.

A new Galaxy Tab based on the chip is rumored to show as soon as Mobile World Congress at the end of the month. The preview shows that Samsung has already planned for awhile to have an extremely high-resolution tablet, although it may not arrive before Apple's. The iPad 3 is suspected of having a 2048x1536 display and could be available in March. Samsung has already said it doesn't plan to start on volume production of the Exynos 5250 until the spring, which could see it ship months later.

The event also gave an opportunity to show gaming using ultra-wideband (UWB) with Wireless USB. Although it's not certain to be a component of future tablets, it could lead to effectively lag-free wireless video out.

Will they really call it that?!

What is up with these people? Galaxy Tab 11.6?? This isn't the latest beta open source browser... it's a consumer electronics device that's supposed to make people NOT want to buy an iPad 3, one of the most anticipated products of the year?

"Hey, is that one of those iPads??!"
"Nah, it's my new Galaxy Tab 11.6!!"
"Did I miss the first 10 generations or something?! What's the point-6 mean?

    Uh oh

That is how PCs crushed Macintosh computers, they had more MHz. Apple stood no chance and could not compete because they needed more MHz. When will Apple learn that if you don’t have enough MHz (the industry standard for performance) then the overall customer experience will not be able to compete.

    Oh, c***!

Android is winning again... That tablet must be more powerful than the Mac Pro and at least ten times more powerful than the iPad 2. How can Apple ever expect to stay ahead with this sort of Samsung onslaught of hardware. The tech geeks love more GHz than anything else. 2GHz means it's twice as fast as the lowly 1 GHz iPad 2. We have an instant winner.

Ever wonder about new iPad rumours?

Every outrageous iPad rumour is likely a Samsung planted one to get people hoping for Apple to push specs instead of user experience. When Samsung comes out with an Apple like product with bigger numbers, the gullible jump in and buy it.

Now you know where many claimed Apple rumours come from

    People around here

Really don't understand sarcasm do they? Either that or they do not remember the manufactured controversy around 2000.

It's pretty easy to mash up a one-off vaporware "demo tablet." (Google "CES 2010 tablets" for proof.) But it's extremely hard to manufacture and sell tens of millions of them at a comfortable profit margin.

Then again, maybe Samsung is attempting to provide evidence of "prior art" for the seemingly inevitable Apple lawsuit. I wouldn't be surprised if Samsung tried this, since they've already claimed that the IBM "Tele Pad" props used in the movie "2001: A Space Odyssey" are prior art. And yes, you can Google that too.
