Samsung may bring Galaxy S II Plus to MWC

Benchmark results from An3DBenchXL indicate the existence of a new smartphone from Samsung, dubbed the 'Galaxy S 2+.' Compared to the Galaxy S II it's based on, the listed specs of the tested device include a 1.5GHz CPU (versus 1.2GHz in some S II models), an 800x480 display, and Android 2.3.4 preloaded.

In the 3D benchmark tests, which account for five games and the frame rates the phone was able to muster up, the Galaxy S 2+ scored a total of 54,675. In the Double dragon part of the test, it managed 59.47fps, 44.19fps in Flower power, 30.17 in Ninjas' garden, 102.89 in Emperor's new clothes and 79.03 in Magic island. The total score compares very favorably with the 37,000 performance of a modified Galaxy S 2 running at 1.6GHz one user shared online. An Optimus 2X running at 1.5GHz is second in the overall scores on the benchmark test list, at 42,697.

Samsung may bring this handset to the Mobile World Congress event on February 27 instead of the Galaxy S III. [via TechSnapr]
