Android 4.0.4 scoop shows speed, touch boosts

One unintentional early adopter has posted the as yet unpublicized Android 4.0.4 for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. The update was sent out over the air to an Android Central reader but can now be installed by anyone comfortable with digging into the platform to manually install firmware. As it's intended for the regular upgrade path, it only works with the official firmware and not mods or custom installs.

The update primarily brings speed increases in the interface as well as improvements to touch responsiveness on the 4.65-inch display. Bug fixes are also in store, although Google hasn't included a detailed list, as well as the social stream updates and others that were promised for the 4.0.3 update before it was promptly pulled following bugs.

Android 4.0.4 has already been spotted in the field for the Nexus S 4G, a sign that it will likely be the next universally available Android 4 update instead of one limited to particular phones and networks.
