Notebook shows in Australia

Toshiba appears to have quietly released its Satellite U840 ultrabook for customers in Australia. The notebook builds upon the company's Z830, adding a larger 14-inch display with 1366x768 resolution and powered by Intel's 1.6GHz Sandy Bridge Core i5 processor.

Users can take advantage of hybrid storage, which pairs a 16GB SSD with a 320GB disk drive, while 8GB of RAM comes standard. Other hardware features include a USB 3.0 port, spill-resistant keyboard, SD card slot and a six-cell battery.

Toshiba is said to have originally promised the U840 for a third-quarter release, however the ultrabook appears to be in stock on the company's Australian website for $1,500 AUD (~$1,618 USD) including tax. A ship date for other regions has yet to be officially announced. [via Ultrabook News]
