Pedal can be programmed using iPad, iPhone or iPod

Harman has started delivering its DigiTech iStomp programmable effects pedal. Users can program the the guitar stompbox using their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to make potentially any sound, not just distortion or other effects associated with filters. Twenty alternative sound effects are available for download.

To use the iStomp, a guitarist can either create a custom effect or download a standard sound from Harman. They then program it into the iStomp and then begin playing. Four knobs, whose function is programmed based on the effect being used, provide custom tuning.

The iStomp is priced at $230. Included are two standard effects as well as the option of downloading one additional effect for one dollar. Additional sound effects, costing $5 each, can be downloaded from Harman. The company lets users try the effects out for five minutes.
