Rdio outs updated Android app with new features

Digital music service Rdio released a new Android app (free, Android Market) on Monday, with a number of key redesigns. The most noticeable is a new home screen that gives one-tap access to the app's features with new ones that include collections, playlists, new releases, and more. There is also support for Android 4.0's remote control client.

Albums and singles will now be available on the same day as they are released, Rdio promised. New search options include playlists and people. New social networking features include the ability to search, browse, and follow user profiles of other Rdio users and accessing their activity, who they follow, and their playlists.

While the app is free to download, users need an unlimited Rdio subscription that costs $10 per month. The app and service are available in the US, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand.
