Canon PowerShot SX260 HS joins lineup

The most performance-minded camera in Canon's lineup for the CP+ show Tuesday was unveiled as the SX260 HS. While the model name is slightly off from leaks, it confirms talk of a leap from 14X to 20X zoom in the body. The design comes outfitted with both a 12.1-megapixel CMOS sensor that helps in low light as well as a DIGIC 5 chip that improves image quality and allows for 1080p video.

Also inside are an intelligent stabilizer system and GPS geotagging. The SX260 HS has a rare 10.3 frames per second burst mode, although it can only last for one second. Software gets a help through both face recognition and an unusually diverse 58-mode scene detection system for those using full auto.

Canon ships the SX260 HS in March for $350.

    sensor size

from the canon website, 12.1 Megapixel, 1/2.3-inch CMOS

i'm more interested in whether they've been able to improve battery life at all. its one of the most common complaints about the SX230.
