Sony releases firmware update for PS3, 4.10

Sony has released its latest firmware update for the PS3 taking it to version 4.10. The new update is referred to as being minor, but brings with it a change in the Terms of Service following the PlayStation Network (PSN) being folded into Sony’s larger Sony Entertainment Network. The move continues a trend towards Sony developing a more cohesive and integrated online platform that brings together its movie, music, TV and gaming content.

The update also brings with it speed improvements to the PS3 browser so that it improves the way it displays content. Prior to the update, the PS3 browser could not properly display the content on certain websites. Sony says that the latest version of the PS3 browser fully supports more interactive websites and displays page layouts with greater accuracy.

The firmware is available for download now and requires at least 180MB of free space on either PS3 hard drive, or on USB stick if downloaded to PC of Mac first.
