Motorola intros sleek Gleam+ flip for Europe
Motorla kept its basic feature phone roster going Thursday with the Gleam+. The flip phone is 13.5mm thick and sports a unique LED matrix on its clamshell that displays the time or notifications and alerts. It earns its plus tag partly through its inclusion of an HTML-capable browser, still a rarity in something its size.
There is a two-megapixel camera for capturing still images and videos, along with an integrated FM radio and audio player.
Once opened, the 2.8-inch, 400x240 display provides all the key information. The phone supports GSM 900/1800 networks in Europe. There is just 50MB of storage available to the user, but it can be expanded thanks to a microSD card slot. Data is cellular only, as Wi-Fi radio isn't included in the specs. Bluetooth 2.1 allows for wireless headsets and headphones. The 750mAh battery promises nearly five hours of talk time.
In Europe, the phone will cost 99 euros (about $132) without a contract and including tax when it arrives in March. There aren't known plans to bring the device to the US market.
