Verizon releases slew of Android updates for gear
Verizon has just released a slew of software upgrades for its Android-powered gear, including the Droid Xyboard tablets which are getting the 1.6.0M_279 update. It promises to enhance third-party pen and native touch performance, better browsing, maintaining a data connection while swapping from Wi-Fi to broadband, and in a twist now has global roaming for data. The update is nearly 84MB.
At the same time, the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX updates that were released for a limited amount of users a couple of days ago is now coming to all users. The 6.12.73 update brings lots of changes, with the Mobile Hotspot feature allowing connected devices to connect to all websites, improved hotspot security, and updates to VZ Navigator that include up-to-date 3D maps. Visual Voice Mail message playback is also improved, and the V CAST App is part of the update. Those who enter into Airplane mode will see more reliable data connections as well when switching Wi-Fi back on.
The Xoom LTE HLK75H update is slowly being released, though the changes are minor and include dual IMSI support for world travelers and the proper restoring of data access when leaving Airplane Mode.
Finally, the rugged Casio G'zOne Commando also benefits from a near 36MB C771M100 update that updates to Android 2.3.3 and gets a plethora of bug fixes and security updates. It also significantly enables the Push-to-Talk functionality for no additional cost. The V CAST Video app will be replaced with what is said to be a more capable Verizon Video Application.
