Phones4U serves chronic phone buyers with 6-month upgrades

Phones 4U JUMP offer combines two contracts
UK cellphone store chain Phones4U has introduced a new upgrade plan for users who want to upgrade their handsets as often as six months. Dubbed JUMP (Just Upgrade My Phone), the scheme involves splitting up the cost of a new phone over a new, second two-year contract. Users also have the option of trading in their current handsets.
One monthly amount will cover the phone and services while the other covers the network airtime agreement. The latter isn't affected by upgrading to the new phone. A £38 monthly plan, for example, is split into £23 a month for the JUMP service agreement and £15 for the carrier. Six months into the plan, the trade-in value of the current handset (Phones4U guarantees all handsets are wroth at least £100 in the first year) can be used to cover the balance owing on the JUMP service contract. If users choose to keep their old phones, the monthly prices will go up. Customers can also choose to keep the old device but this will affect the new commitment price. Also, trading in two phones at once is possible as well.
The plan goes live in May at nearly 600 UK stores, as well as when calling in. [via TheVerge]
