Spotify and Foursquare get special features

Two major mobile apps got updates for special features at the end of the week. Spotify on iOS (App Store) now has the option to both stream and sync audio at 320Kbps, the same quality as it exists on the desktop. While it requires either a more intensive Internet connection or extra storage for cached tracks, it puts the app's audio quality ahead of other on-demand music rivals.

The update also speeds up logging in to a "one-tap" process through Facebook.

The previously unveiled Foursquare update is also now known to have a special extra for Android 4.0 users (Android Market). Those who have a Galaxy Nexus or another phone that supports Android Beam can use the NFC feature to share a location, a list, or themselves to someone else just by bringing the phones close together.

Foursquare's addition gives Android a rare platform-first edge on the check-in service, where iOS usually goes first. iOS 5 is still the only platform with automatic notifications of certain check-in possibilities through Foursquare's Radar.
