Google Experience Center would target Project X
An investigation into Google's public records has hinted that the company is planning large expansions that would be incubators for multiple secret projects. The Mercury News sleuthing found that Google was spending over $120 million in construction around its Montain Vew headquarters for both public and private work. Secret projects would reportedly play a part, including for the Android@Home wireless audio device and Google's well-known but still secretive Project X labs.
The highlight would be a 120,000 square foot Experience Center. The building would be used to court as many as 900 executives and other special guests to collaborate with and brief them on work. Most of what would happen at the center would be confidential and not meant for the public eye, although its layout would behave like that of a constantly changing "museum."
Wireless would come into focus through a nearby facility working on "Google/@home" technology, which along with those at its main campus joule be testing basics of wireless performance like RF behavior, radiation, and thermal behavior.
Google is known to be testing mystery communication devices and may even be working on HUD-equipped glasses that might pair with a smartphone. Combined with the facility expansion, the factors point to Google becoming increasingly concerned with hardware and possibly venturing into its own, completely self-designed devices. Previously, it has almost always worked with another company and has mostly influenced rather than dictated the path of a given product.
Apple, Microsoft, and others that design their own hardware already have their own similar facilities.

How Secret Can It Be?
How secret can it be if it has a name? Even a name like "Project X". You can't get even an acknowledgement that Apple has any secret projects, much less one with a name. That's secret.
